A daughter of Uzbek President Islam Karimov has lost her libel suit against a French news website that called her a "dictator's daughter," RFE/RL's Uzbek Service reports.
Rue 89 said the court in Paris has ruled that there was nothing libelous in its description of Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva.
Karimova-Tillyaeva had taken legal action over an article in Rue 89 that described her as a "dictator's daughter" who uses charity events and pays for Western celebrities to "whitewash her country's image" in the West.

Karimova-Tillyaeva demanded 30,000 euros ($42,700) from the news site for moral damages.

The article's author, Augustin Scalbert, told RFE/RL that the July 1 ruling was expected.
"The court ruled that we can write that she is the daughter of a dictator so we're going to keep writing that," he said.
Scalbert said the ruling would deter others from filing similar lawsuits in French courts.
The Paris-based media rights group Reporters Without Borders hailed the decision as a "logical outcome."
