Kazakh Warplane Makes Emergency Landing In China

A Su-27 warplane from Kazakhstan's Air Force made an emergency landing at a Chinese airport while returning from the recent Shanghai Cooperation Organization antiterrorism exercises in China's Inner Mongolia.

The plane landed at the Yinchuan Hedong International Airport in the northern Ningxia Hui region after the crew reported mechanical failure, according to a September 2 report from Kazakh news website BNews.kz.

Four other Kazakh military planes accompanying the Su-27 plane back home also landed at the Chinese airport.

The mechanical problem was fixed and all five planes returned to Kazakhstan.

Based on reporting by BNews.kz and PLA Daily

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
