Kazakhstan's government says agreements worth $20 billion are to be signed in Beijing in the coming days during an official visit by President Nursultan Nazarbaev.

Kazakhstan's Investments and Development Minister Aset Isekeshev made the announcement in Beijing after arriving there with Nazarbaev on August 31.

Isekeshev said the agreements cover Kazakh-Chinese projects in transportation, machine-building, logistics, the chemical industry, and other economic spheres.

Nazarbaev met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping shortly after his arrival in Beijing.

Nazarbaev is scheduled to attend a September 3 military parade devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Allied victory against Japan in World War II.

China says the presidents of Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan are also among leaders and representatives of some 30 countries expected to attend that parade.
