Kosovo Public Broadcaster Targeted By Grenade

A grenade has been hurled at the building housing Kosovo's public broadcaster, causing some damage.

Police said on August 23 that the grenade was thrown in the yard of the Kosovo Radio and Television headquarters in the capital, Pristina late on August 22. No one was injured in the attack.

The attack has been condemned by the government and political parties as an attack against freedom of speech.

The blast comes amid political tensions over a border demarcation deal with Montenegro and a separate agreement with Serbia that gives more powers to ethnic Serbs in Kosovo.

The opposition has disrupted parliament's work since last September, including firing tear gas and throwing eggs, in a bid to scupper the deal.
