Kosovo's parliament today elected Hashim Thaci to a second term as prime minister and businessman Behgjet Pacolli as president, following December’s general elections.

Thaci was elected despite recent international pressure on the former military leader over allegations linking him to organ-trafficking, among other heinous crimes.

Pacolli was the only candidate running for president after his party, the New Kosovo Alliance (AKR), joined forces with Thaci's Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).

The main opposition parties boycotted the vote on the presidency, citing Pacolli's pursuit of politics for business goals and his business ties with Russia, which opposes Kosovo's independence.
