Kuwait says it is to expel a number of Iranian diplomats for alleged links to a spying ring working for Tehran.

Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Sabah made the announcement two days after three members of the suspected spy ring were sentenced to death by a Kuwaiti court.

The three men -- two Iranians and a Kuwaiti national -- were detained in May 2010.

Media reports said they were accused of gathering information on Kuwaiti and U.S. military sites in Gulf Arab states for Iran's Revolutionary Guards.

Iran has denied the allegations.
