Kyrgyz Fake Documents Facility Busted

x
Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security says an underground facility providing extremists and terrorists with forged documents has been found in the southern city of Osh.

The owner of the facility, a Kyrgyz citizen with a criminal record, has been arrested.

Police official said on November 14 that they confiscated printing equipment and almost 100 forged documents, including passports, birth certificates, marriage certificates, university diplomas, and driving licenses from the suspect's premises.

Investigators are looking for others who could be involved.

Kyrgyzstan's Osh region is in the troubled Ferghana Valley, which it shares with Uzbekistan.

The region was used by the extremist Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan as a transit to enter Uzbekistan in early 2000s.
