Police in the Russian capital have detained a man suspected in disrupting a concert by the country's legendary rock-musician Andrei Makarevich.

Moscow police officials said on October 3 that the suspect was born in 1987 in Russia's republic of Komi. No more details were given.

On September 25, Makarevich was performing at Moscow's House of Music when a group of people released a gas into the concert hall, forcing the audience to exit the building temporarily.

Activists from the group led by Russian nationalist Eduard Limonov took responsibility for the action.

Pro-Kremlin lawmakers and commentators have branded Makarevich a traitor after he gave concerts in Ukraine for refugees from the eastern part of the country, where government forces have been battling pro-Russian separatists for six months.

Based on reporting by ITAR-TASS and Interfax

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
