Reports from the West African country of Mauritania say Muammar Qaddafi's former spy chief has been extradited to Libya.
Abdullah al-Senussi was among the most feared members of Qaddafi's inner circle before rebels last year toppled the regime, hunted Qaddafi down, and killed him.
Senussi was captured in Mauritania in March, triggering months of wrangling between Libya, France, and the International Criminal Court over who would put him on trial.
The Hague-based court has charged Senussi with crimes against humanity for the killings of Qaddafi's opponents.
France wants to try Senussi in connection with a 1989 airliner bombing over Niger that killed 54 French citizens.
Libya's Foreign Ministry said on September 5 it could not confirm the extradition.
The International Criminal Court said it had not received any official confirmation of the extradition.
