Members of the pro-Kremlin youth group Anti-Maidan protested outside the Moscow bureaus of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and Voice of America on February 27. The protesters held signs in shape of cookies with slogans such as "Cookies Flavored With Lies," in reference to U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland's visit to the Maidan protests in Kyiv, at which she reportedly handed out cookies. MOSCOW -- Dozens of young activist belonging to an anti-Maidan movement in Russia have protested in front of RFE/RL's offices in Moscow.

The young people gathered at RFE/RL's bureau in the Russian capital on February 27 with placards and large pictures of cookies with the slogans: "Radio Liberty Is a Liar," "The State Department's Cookies for Liars," and "Cookies from Obama."

Correspondents from several mainly state-run television channels were present during the 30-minute protest.

Anti-Maidan is a pro-Kremlin movement in Russia that supports pro-Russian rebels in eastern Ukraine.

On February 21, thousands rallied in Moscow under Anti-Maidan slogans protesting the first anniversary of pro-European Maidan protests in Kyiv that toppled pro-Moscow President Viktor Yanukovych, who fled to Russia.

Russia annexed Ukraine's Crimea Peninsula in March, and fighting between Ukrainian government forces and Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine has killed more than 5,600 people since April.
