Motorcycle Bomb In Pakistan Wounds At Least 15

Police in Pakistan say a bomb attached to a motorcycle exploded outside a restaurant near the capital, Islamabad, late on May 15 -- wounding at least 15 people.

Authorities said one of the injured victims was in critical condition.

The bombing in the garrison city of Rawalpindi occurred a few hours after computer hackers broke into website of the city’s police. But officials said sensitive data had not been compromised.

Police official Abdul Waheed said on May 16 that bomb disposal experts were examining whether the device had been detonated using a timer or by remote-control.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

There have been hundreds of bomb and gun attacks in Pakistan in recent years. Most are blamed on local militants.

The latest bombing comes as authorities try to reach a peace deal with the Pakistani Taliban.
