Clashes erupted on September 14 in Cairo as former strongman leader Hosni Mubarak returned to court for a retrial over alleged complicity in the killing of protesters in early 2011.

The case was adjourned to October 19, the latest deferral since the retrial started in May.

Mubarak's supporters and followers of his successor, ousted Islamist president Muhammad Morsi, engaged in fistfights outside the Cairo court.

Mubarak, 85, is being retried for charges of failing to prevent the killing of more than 800 protesters in the uprising that forced him out of power in February 2011.

It is Mubarak's second court appearance since he was released from prison in August and transferred to a military hospital, where he is being detained pending trial on other, corruption charges.
