Pakistan Says Arrests Made Over School Massacre

Authorities in Pakistan say they made several arrests on December 21 in the case of a school massacre by the Taliban in the northwestern city of Peshawar.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on December 21 that “quite a few suspects who were facilitators in one way or the other have been taken into custody."

He also said that interrogations were “moving ahead in a positive manner.”

He did not specify how many arrests were made nor the identities of those arrested.

Seven Taliban gunmen wearing explosives belts stunned the world on December 16 by storming into the military-run school and slaughtering 141 people, including 132 students.

Before the Interior Minister’s announcement, Pakistan’s government had faced growing criticism and public anger over its apparent failure to track down individuals responsible for planning and helping to carry out the school killings.
