More Than 20 Killed As Blast Hits Pilgrims' Bus In Pakistan

x
QUETTA, Pakistan -- Pakistani officials say a bomb blast has hit a bus carrying Shi’ite Muslim pilgrims returning from Iran and killed at least 22 people.

The explosion on January 21 occurred on a road outside the city of Quetta, the capital of the southwestern province of Balochistan.

More than 20 people were reported injured.

Officials said the bus was traveling in a convoy when it was struck by the blast.

It was not clear who was responsible.

Islamist militants, Sunni sectarian extremists, and ethnic Baluch separatists are all active in Balochistan, which borders Afghanistan and Iran.

Shi'a are a minority in mainly Sunni Pakistan.
