Pakistan's Supreme Court has given new Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf another two weeks to ask authorities in Switzerland to reopen graft cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.
Ashraf's predecessor, Yousuf Raza Gilani, was ousted from office for refusing to write to the Swiss.
This month, the court made veiled threats that the new premier could suffer the same fate.
On July 25, the attorney general, representing the government, asked the court for time to make "serious and genuine efforts" to resolve the standoff with the judiciary.
In response, Judge Asif Saeed Khosa adjourned the case until August 8.
For more than two years, the government has resisted judges' demands to reopen investigations into Zardari, arguing he enjoys immunity as head of state.
