Prominent Pakistani TV Host Survives Gun Attack

Police say unknown gunmen on motorbikes opened fire at a prominent Pakistani journalist in the southern port city of Karachi.

Hamid Mir was on his way to work, when his car came under attack on April 19.

Police said Mir received three bullets in the lower parts of his body, and was being treated in hospital.

Mir, who hosts a popular television talk-show on Geo News, is seen as a critic of Pakistan's powerful intelligence agencies and military for their alleged role in the disappearance of thousands of people in the restive Balochistan province.

This was the second attempt on Mir's life. In 2012, a bomb was found recovered from his car.

Last month Raza Rumi, a prominent television anchor survived a similar attack in Lahore.

Rumi is known for his criticism of the Taliban. Rumi's driver was killed in the attack.
