Protesters Rally At French Embassy Over Prophet Cartoons

x
Some 50 protesters have rallied outside the French Embassy in Baku to protest against caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad published last week in a French periodical.

Police dispersed the gathering on September 24, detaining several protesters.

Last week, the French satirical magazine "Charlie Hebdo" published cartoons of the prophet, days after widespread protests across Muslim nations  -- some deadly -- against the film "Innocence Of Muslims," which mocks Muhammad.

In Pakistan, where 15 people were killed in antifilm protests on September 21, a government minister has offered $100,000 to anyone who kills the maker of the amateurish movie that was privately produced in the United States.

Demonstrations against the film were also held on September 24 in Nigeria, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines.
