Updated

A Romanian medical helicopter has crashed near the city of Cahul in southern Moldova, killing four people.

Local authorities in the city of Cahul said that the helicopter crashed on June 2 in foggy weather.

Moldova's Deputy Health Minister Oleg Craciun identified the dead as the pilot, co-pilot, a doctor, and a medical assistant, all from Romania.

Officials said the aircraft was found on the edge of a forest and the bodies of the victims were severely burned.

They said the helicopter was on its way to pick up a patient to transport to a hospital in Moldova’s capital, Chisinau.

An investigation is under way into the crash.
