Bomb Kills Prosecutor's Aide In Daghestan


An aide to a local prosecutor has been killed in a bomb attack in Russia's North Caucasus.

Daghestani officials say Rasul Gasanov died on December 31 after a homemade explosive device detonated under his car near his house in the city of Buinaksk.

Meanwhile, Russia's Investigative Committee said a probe had been launched into another bombing in Daghestan's western city of Khasavyurt.

An unknown assailant used an explosive device late on December 30 in an attack on a police patrol in Khasavyurt.

Two local residents were killed and five injured, including four police officers.
