Three men from the Russian North Caucasus republic of Daghestan have been sentenced to jail terms for killing and robbing homosexuals.
The Russian prosecutor-general's office announced on February 19 that the trio was found guilty in Moscow of the premeditated murders of three men.
They were also convicted of attempted murder, robbery, and theft.
Bakhmud Kaimarazov, 24, was sentenced to 25 years in jail; Magomedkhan Magomedkhanov, 24, received 24 years; and Magomed Magomedov, 26, received nine years.
Investigators say that in 2012, the trio met homosexuals via the Internet and later went to their homes to attack and rob them.
One man survived an attack.
The treatment of gays in Russia has been under increasing scrutiny since the approval last year of a law banning the spread of homosexual "propaganda" to minors.
