Russia and Hungary have signed deals to finish construction of the Paks nuclear power plant in Hungary.
Hungary's government commissioner for the project, Attila Aszodi, said on December 9 that implementation agreements for the nuclear plant were signed with Russia's Atomenergoprom.
The agreements allow the Russian company to build two new reactors for the Paks plant, which now supplies more than half of Hungary's electricity.
Currently, the Soviet-designed plant has four reactors operating with a capacity to generate some 2,000 MW.
The two new units will add some 2,000 to 2,400 MW.
The agreements also cover reactor maintenance and fuel supply.
Russia is also lending Hungary 10 billion euros ($12.4 billion) for construction of the new units.
Aszodi said Hungary also obtained guarantees Russia would not abandon the project, as it did the South Stream gas pipeline project.
