Russian Nuclear Submarine On Fire In Dock

TEXT SIZE - +
Russia says a fire broke out aboard a nuclear-powered submarine undergoing repairs in a shipyard in the Arctic Sea port of Murmansk.

Northern Fleet spokesman Vadim Serga told the Interfax news agency that the fire spread from some wooden structures in the dock to the submarine "Yekaterinburg," whose outer hull then caught fire.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations said no one was injured, and that radiation levels at the shipyard were normal.

The "Yekaterinburg," built in the mid-1980s, is capable of launching long-range ballistic missiles.
