Russian fencer Yana Yegoryan held off her fellow countrywoman Sofia Velikaya to win Olympic gold, giving Russia a one-two finish in the saber competition.

Ukraine's Olga Kharlan won bronze, besting Manon Brunet of France.

Josip Glasnovic, meanwhile, won Croatia's first gold of the Olympics, beating Italy's Giovanni Pellielo in the men’s trap shoot.

Glasnovic, 33, hit a perfect 15 of 15 in the semifinal but missed two in the final. He then fired four of four in the shoot-off.

It was Croatia’s first medal of the Rio games.

In the men’s 10-meter air rifle, meanwhile, Ukraine’s Serhiy Kulish and Russia’s Vladimir Maslennikov took home the silver and bronze, respectively.

Niccolo Campriani of Italy won gold.
