A Serbian military helicopter evacuating a five-day-old baby for emergency medical treatment crashed in heavy fog near Belgrade airport late on March 13, leaving no survivors.

Seven people - four crew members, two medical workers, and the baby - were killed in the crash, Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said at an extraordinary government session, which was broadcast live on state television.

He said March 15 would be declared a day of mourning.

The Mi-17 helicopter was on a medical run to a Belgrade hospital to rescue the baby when it apparently got lost in bad weather.

Based on reporting by AFP, Reuters, and AP
