U.S. Drone Strike Kills Four In Pakistan

Pakistani security sources said U.S. drone attacks targeting a suspected militant compound have killed at least four people in a restive tribal area near the Afghan border.

The attack took place on December 28 in Gurbuz town, in North Waziristan.

The identities of those killed were not immediately known.

The area is known to be a hideout for many militants, including Taliban and Al-Qaeda rebels.

Pakistan has regularly criticized U.S. drone attacks, describing them as counterproductive and a violation of its sovereignty.

But U.S. officials say the armed drones have proved a vital weapon in the campaign against the insurgency along the Afghan border.
