A Soyuz rocket carrying three crew has blasted off for the International Space Station.
The spacecraft lifted off on schedule from Russia's Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan in the early hours of September 2, carrying Russian cosmonaut Sergei Volkov, Kazakhstan's Aidyn Aimbetov, and Andreas Mogensen from Denmark.
Volkov of the Russian space agency Roscosmos is following in the footsteps of his father, who launched into space 24 years ago.
Aimbetov, who replaced British singer Sarah Brightman after the 54-year-old pulled out of the mission in June, is the third Kazakh to enter space.
Mogensen of the European Space Agency is the first Dane in space.
The three-man crew will arrive at the orbiting outpost on September 4 after a two-day flight through space, bringing the number on board to nine.
