Suicide Bomber Kills 15 In Baghdad Shi'ite Neighborhood

Iraqi officials say at least 15 people were killed on June 11 when a suicide bomber blew himself up inside a tent where local tribal leaders were meeting in northern Baghdad.

At least 34 were injured in the attack which occurred in the capital's sprawling Shi'ite district of Sadr City.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Suicide bombings are a tactic usually employed by Sunni militants in Iraq, who consider members of the Shi'ite majority apostates and frequently attack them.

The attack came as Al-Qaeda-affiliated insurgents took control of the central city of Tikrit on June 11, a day after overruning Mosul, Iraq's second-largest city.
