Suicide Bombers Kill At Least 28 People In Cameroon

Officials in Cameroon say four suicide bombers attacked a market and town on January 25 in the country’s Far North Region, near the border with Nigeria, killing at least 28 people and wounding at least 65.

The regional governor, Midjiyawa Bakari, told reporters that two attackers targeted the market in the town of Bodo and two others detonated explosives in other parts of the town.

Bakari said authorities obtained information suggesting the attackers came from neighboring Nigeria.

General Jacob Kodji, a senior military commander in Cameroon, said the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram was suspected.

Kodji said some accomplices of the bombers may still be hiding in the area.
