DUSHANBE -- Local authorities in Tajikistan's capital, Dushanbe, have rewarded the country's only Olympic medalist, Mavzuna Chorieva, with a three-room apartment in the city.

The 19-year-old boxer won a bronze medal after losing to Irishwoman Katie Taylor in the women's Olympic lightweight semifinal.

The keys to the flat were handed over to Chorieva Thursday during a lavish ceremony in Dushanbe central park organized by city authorities in the honor of the nation's 16 participants in the London Games.

Chorieva is also expected to receive a $42,000 cash award from the country's president, a Lexus luxury car from the private bank Orienbank, and two other flats in Dushanbe and her native town of Kulob.

The apartments have been promised to the athlete by Tajikistan's Islamic Revival Party and Kulob city authorities, respectively.
