Novak Djokovic has been awarded the top state honor in Serbia.

President Boris Tadic decorated the tennis great with the Karadjordjeva Star medal, the highest honor in the country.

Tadic said on February 14 that Djokovic deserved the medal for "special merits in representing Serbia."

Djokovic is the world's top-ranked player, and winner of the last three Grand Slam tournaments.

He will formally receive the medal at a ceremony on February 15 marking Serbia's statehood day.
