The prime minister of Turkey has dismissed a report released by the antisecrecy group WikiLeaks suggesting he is suffering from terminal cancer and has only two years to live.
In a speech on March 7 to members of his ruling Justice and Development Party in Ankara, Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the WikiLeaks report "impudent" and said "only God" would decide how long he lives.
The 58-year-old Erdogan has undergone two intestinal operations in the past four months but has repeatedly denied rumors he is suffering from cancer.
His comments come after a Turkish newspaper published a leaked December 10, 2011, e-mail from the intelligence firm Stratfor quoting a source close to Erdogan's surgeon as saying the prime minister had two years left to live.
The e-mail was part of a recent massive WikiLeaks release of Stratfor's correspondence.
