German Doctors To Be Asked to Examine Tymoshenko Again

The attorney of jailed Ukrainian ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko says he is going to ask German doctors, who have already examined Tymoshenko, to visit her once again.

Sergei Vlasenko said March 26 that he would make the request "in the very near future."

Vlasenko also said an additional bed had been installed in Tymoshenko's cell, which according to prison staff will probably be occupied by a convicted murderer.

Vlasenko added that authorities don't want to see Tymoshenko "alive and well."

Earlier this month, Ukrainian officials said Tymoshenko was denied a request for medical treatment outside the prison where she is serving a seven-year sentence on charges of abuse of office.

Tymoshenko has refused medical treatment at the prison, saying she doesn't trust the doctors there.
