Uganda President Wins New Term; Opposition Alleges Fraud

Uganda's election commission says longtime President Yoweri Museveni has won a recent poll.

The electoral commission said Museveni won 68 percent of the total in the February 18 voting.

His challenger, Kizza Besigye, says the election was fraudulent and that he rejects the results.

The commission says Besigye took 26 percent of the vote.

Besigye has previously threatened Egypt-style protests if the results are not in line with what he and his supporters regard as the correct returns.
