Hashtag Hijacked: Russia Trolls U.S. Twitter Campaign In Ukraine Crisis

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry (right) and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Tensions between the two men's respective departments have now spilled over into the Twittersphere.
It seems there is no opportunity too small for the Russian Foreign Ministry to needle the U.S. State Department.

Most recently, the Foreign Ministry took its differences with the State Department to the online medium where trolling, or inciting debate to upset someone, is ubiquitous: Twitter.

The MFA decided to use the State Department's preferred hashtag #UnitedforUkraine to send no fewer than 9 tweets in the past two days of comments made by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The State Department announced the social media campaign on March 27.

"Our goal with this campaign and everything else we're doing is to make sure the world knows what is happening, what is the truth and making sure people come together, again, and are united for Ukraine," said State Department Deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf in a briefing.

She had a tweet of her own, along with spokeswoman Jen Psaki.
It is not the first time that Russia has tweaked the United States over its hashtags. The U.S. Embassy in Moscow spelled Russia wrong earlier this month in a tweet.

The Russian Foreign Ministry shot back with a wry Facebook post telling the State Department that before distributing "spam," "it would not be bad to learn to correctly spell the name of the country in which you are working"

"We would be happy to consult with you if you have any questions or doubts while preparing your next propaganda materials," the ministry wrote in the Russian-language post, adding in English: “May the Force be with us.”

Psaki issued a terse response when asked about the geopolitical hashtag wars at an April 24 press briefing in Washington.

“I don’t think they’re living by their hashtag,” she said.

To the issue of Yatcenuk presentation of intentions of Ukraine:
_________________________________________________
Yatcenuk is mentioning even in a milder way integration in EU
than Yanukovich, the Russian proxy that brought Ukraine into
state of be enslaved, conquered and repopulated even more
by Russiasns.
Russia is already using that point, illegally, against Ukraine.
Still, there is an appearance that somehow it is good excuse
for Russia to invade.
1.
The issue was forged and resurface again in time of Lenin,
as "United States of Europe", when German and Russian
socialists were bitterly arguing who of them is Greater race
of barbarians and has right conquer the World, repopulate
it in name of Russian World Empire of German World
Empire.
Later Russians and Germans argued the same in name of
World Revolution - who will lead it and repopulate the
World, like a wave from a stone dropped into Ocean.
When Lenin went to a mental institution, Stalin offer democracy,
free election, independence, revival of millenniums of experience
of Common Wealth of Caucasian Civilizations, back through
Millenniums of known history.
CIS was interrupted because of WW2 and Russia's blackmail
by USSR, temporary creation to be return after WW2 to CIS.
However, Russia and Germany are still at it, like during the
Katerina the Prussian, pushing Prussia conquer all German
Kingdoms and divide Europe.
In 1954-56 Russians lured Germans, Austrians and British
to restore the same game.
2
It is why I would advise Yatcenuk and Ukraine review their
language.
Russians are provocateurs, they want conquer neighbors.
Europe fall for the "United States of Europe" trap they cannot
pull-off, without Russia and Germany dividing Europe in neo-
imperialist way.
Joe Biden was acting in same manner in all Europe, like in
Balkans - Yugoslavia is no more, no CIS of Yugoslavia, while
Germans and Austrians buying them part by part, using fools
from USA and conspiracy with Russian imperio-macaques
to neo-colonize them for 30 trillions of WW2 Nazi loot, and
not only Balkans, but most of Europe!
Joe Biden green on his face makes me very uncomfortable.
I saw it before few times.
I saw similar situation before tragedy in Chile, on face of a
Russian general that brought no money, they promised,
but provoked USA virtual invasion and killings.
UKRAINE MUST BE FREE TO TRADE AND PROSPER WITH
EAST AND WEST, STRONG AND PROSPEROUS INSTRUMENT
OF REVIVAL IN EASTERN EUROPE AND CIS, NOT
PLATCDARM OF RUSSIAN AND GERMAN IMPERIAL DIVIDE!
3.
THE PROBLEM IS RUSSIA, THEY ARE TREATORS THAT
ONCE AGAIN PUSHING CIS NATION TO LOOK FOR HELP
IN INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY BY ANNEXING,
CLEANSING AND BREEDING RUSSIANS IN NEIGBOR
COUNTRIES LANDS.
THEY ALSO DELIBERATELY PLOTTING WITH GERMANS
TO MOCK NATIONS IN BETWEEN, LIKE UKRAINE.
Green of Joe Biden is not helpful...

European integration is an ideological term that shift it somewhere else.
Georgia is part of European Civilization that Georgian ancestry created through millenniums.
"NATO for Peace" helped technically transform SSSR to CIS, specially helping Russia, which turned paying off debt and making many billions with help of the West into rearmament and threat to CIS nations.
Georgia forced by Russian invaders, genocide, cleansing, annexation and repopulation to ask for help UN, Europeans, USA and "NATO for Peace" to help defend from intended by Russia end of Georgia.
Georgia also contributed to World Peace and "exit policy" from Afghanistan and Iraq, which makes, giving Russian threat of total genocide since 9 Century AD, 12-13 Centuries AD Russian evil bringing Mongols and vanishing of Georgia, race war and virtual genocide for last two centuries, specially in twenties Century, unavoidable independent part of Civilized World, Europe and maybe, if Russia wouldn't repent, return all to everybody and change it ways, member of NATO.
Still, Germans trying to turn EU into their neo-Empire, British in doubt to which degree they are members of EU, France and number of other nations in Europe might feel similarly.
I wouldn't reinforce ideological terminology, forged since Lenin and Trotcky, about integration in EU as it is some sort of "military block" - Russia is looking for such "Zhupel" of their own expansion.
Same goes for Ukraine, however there is still a choice to save united Ukraine from Russian treachery of repopulating it as divide between neo-Russian and neo-German empires.

UNITE UKRAINE, INCLUDING RUSSINAS, NOT WITHSTANDING MADNESS OF VARAGA-PRUSSAKA RUSSIAN LEADERSHIP OF NEW "POMESH'IKS"
WITH "IMPERSKAYA LENTOCHKA" OF IDIOTS!

PS:
_____________________________
I posted number of comments lately:
About Russia debt in many trillions to former USSR republics and CIS countries and that Russia continued to strangulate and plunder them;
About the last drop of patience of Ukrainian people - to be turned into slaves in country be annexed and repopulated by Russia with help of Yanukovich and his last agreement;
About this being main reason people were staying on Maidan and reason why Russia murdered 100 Ukrainians there and still kidnapping and killing in Eastern Ukraine.
_________________________________________________
Yesterday Russian government rebattled it in insulting manner!
After they plundered their neighbors for many trillions and
after West helped Russia get richer to many billions,
they rearm, keep plunder and sabotage economy
and energy of neighbors, they say in essence:
"RUSSIA IS KIND AND GENEROUS MASTER OVER YOU,
HOW DARE YOU FORGET THAT RUSSIA CONTRIBUTE
TO WORLD CHARITY AND PART OF IT HELPING YOUR
PEOPLE, LIKE UKRAINIAN PEOPLE FROM GREAT
RUSSIA THAT STOLE FROM YOU TRILLIONS,
STEALING OIL AND GAS AND RESAILING
IT TO YOU FOR ARM AND A LEG!"

While the west has been twittering, their economies have been collapsing in a massive heap of humiliation. The end is near - and the "dictator" Putin can only sit and laugh. Whatever happened to the predictions of the imminent demise of Ahmadinejad?

Uhh…Luke Johnson? Just saw your tweet *Liked these articles (WashPost/foreignpolicy/blog etc) and stayed up last night/this a.m. [to write this].*

Thought I’d check it out.

But it looks like even 'Konstantin from LA' has one-up-on-you re some …umm…”interesting info* here. lol

2 paragr. re Russia’s response w/ a WRY FB post TELLING the State Dept..(GASP!!!) and “Psaki {only} issued a terse response…”

Whoa! Under a lot of pressure to analyze/scrutinize but stilll keepin’-it-balanced?

Sorry, but re your POV >

#FAIL

(Guess maybe I had reached my quota yesterday of naive US press *nitwit-tery* after reading a popular culture columnist drooling over Putin’s “assurance that he [Putin] would never do anything to harm his neighbors,’ and then the columnist reassuringly added “I don’t know about you, but I take Putin at his word.”)

Blech!

For those who believe in Russia as being "superpower": Sorry, but Russia is NOT USA nor EU in terms of economic and industrial development. Russia is only a Third World economy that rely on oil and gas to generate economic growth and stay afloat. As we saw in 2009, when Russia economy fall -7,2% due to Western Recession, if the EU and US fall in a slight recession, then Russian economy will contract between -5% to -6% in matter of one or two years. Russian economy recovered in 2012 the all the GDP lost since 2009. If Russia try to damage Western economies, then the big LOSER will be Russia as we saw in 2009-2012 period. ;D Good luck Putin-fanboys praising Fascist Imperialist Russia.
