A top U.S. diplomat is paying a four-day visit to Uzbekistan.

The U.S. Embassy in Tashkent said on March 17 that Fatema Sumar, U.S. deputy assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asian affairs, would focus on expanding and deepening U.S.-Uzbek relations during her March 16-19 visit.

Sumar will meet with Uzbek government officials and businessmen in Tashkent and confer on bilateral and regional affairs, among them economic integration within the New Silk Road project.

Sumar will also visit Termez, a town in southern Uzbekistan that borders Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
