Uzbek President Appoints New Foreign Minister

Uzbek President Islam Karimov has appointed Abdulaziz Kamilov to be the country's foreign minister.

Karimov signed a decree to that effect on January 13 at the same time relieving Eler Ganiev from that post.

Kamilov has already served as Uzbekistan's foreign minister from 1994-2003.

From 2003 until 2010, he was Uzbekistan's ambassador to the United States.
