Violence Claims More Lives In Fallujah, Baghdad

At least 21 people were killed in Baghdad, Fallujah, and nearby areas on April 19 in bombings and months-long fighting between government forces and Al-Qaeda-linked militants.

The highest death toll was reported in the town of Garma, northeast of Fallujah, where artillery fire and airstrikes killed 11 people and injured nearly 20 others.

In Baghdad, four people were killed by bomb blasts while shopping in a mostly Sunni neighborhood.

Later, explosions in the same neighborhood killed five more and wounded 10 others.

Two people were also killed and five others injured in shelling in Fallujah's residential areas.

Meanwhile, security officials said government forces killed more than 20 militants in the city of Ramadi.

Fallujah and Ramadi are located in the Anbar Province, where government forces have been battling militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant since January.
