The eldest daughter of slain opposition politician Boris Nemtsov has left Russia to work for German broadcaster Deutsche Welle.

Zhanna Nemtsova, 31, who previously worked for Russian news outlet RBK, will join Deutsche Welle's Bonn office in August as a reporter in the Russian department.

Peter Limbourg, the director of Deutsche Welle, a government-funded broadcaster, said Nemtsova’s "clear stance and knowledge could enhance the success of our Russian department."

In a statement on July 17, Nemtsova said she had received threats as she pressed for further investigations into her father’s killing near the Kremlin on February 27.

Based on reporting by AP and Deutsche Welle

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
