The Hague, 25 February 2004 (RFE/RL) -- Prosecutors at the war crimes trial of former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic today officially wrapped up their case.

Prosecutors were scheduled to continue for two more days but Milosevic has been ill for the past two weeks, and on 22 February, the court announced that the presiding judge will resign due to illness. The prosecution decided to shorten its final summation to avoid further delays.

The court is now due to recess for three months to allow Milosevic to prepare his defense. He is representing himself at the trial.

Milosevic is defending himself against 66 counts of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide in Croatia, Bosnia, and Kosovo in the 1990s.
