Yushchenko-Yanukovych TV Debate Scheduled

17 December 2004 -- Ukraine's Central Election Commission announced today that presidential candidates Viktor Yushchenko and Viktor Yanukovych will face off in a televised debate on 20 December.

ITAR-TASS quoted commission spokeswoman Zoya Sharikova, who said the two-hour debate will be broadcast on Ukraine's state-run channel 1, starting at 7 p.m. local time (UTC +2).

A repeat of the second round of presidential elections is scheduled for 26 December. The original second round, held on 21 November, was annulled by the Supreme Court after mass protests, on grounds of vote fraud.
