Two Detained In Chechen Leader's Assassination

10 June 2004 -- A senior Russian prosecutor says Russian authorities have detained two suspects in last month's killing of pro-Kremlin Chechen administration head Akhmed-hadji Kadyrov.

Deputy Prosecutor-General Sergei Fridinskii said the two suspects, residents of Chechnya, had admitted helping prepare and carry out the bomb attack that killed Kadyrov and five other people.

The bomb blast occurred on 9 May at a stadium in Grozny where Kadyrov was attending a parade commemorating Nazi Germany's defeat in World War II.
