Tajik President Imomali Rakhmonov in New Delhi (epa) August 8, 2006 -- Tajik President Imomali Rakhmonov, who is on a five-day visit to New Delhi, has signed several cooperation agreements with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Indian and Tajik media today report both sides on August 7 vowed to join forces against organized crime, terrorism, and money laundering. They also agreed to develop ties in a number of areas, including industry, agriculture, education, and transportation.

Rakhmonov invited Indian companies to participate in a number of energy projects, including the construction of the Dashtijum hydroelectric dam on the Tajik-Afghan border.

Addressing a gathering of Indian businessmen, the Tajik president said the current volume of bilateral trade is far below the potential of both countries.

Singh's office says bilateral trade volume was $12 million in 2005-06.
