Bush Signs Into Law U.S. Endorsement Of NATO Expansion


April 11, 2007 -- U.S. President George W. Bush has signed legislation that backs NATO membership for Ukraine, Georgia, Albania, Croatia, and Macedonia.



The bill, which Bush signed on April 10, also authorizes U.S. funds for military assistance for the five countries, provided they continue to implement democratic and economic reforms.


NATO has been in talks with the five countries over potential membership.
