We are looking for a Technical Operations Center Technician for our Technical Operations Department in Prague. Reporting to the Technical Operations Shift Leader, the incumbent ensures that the proper broadcast program is being fed to the appropriate outgoing line at the correct time and monitors quality of broadcasting. The incumbent also receives first-line help desk inquiries; he/she is responsible for proper recording of the inquiries in our help desk system.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinates outgoing and incoming feeds with the receiving location.
• Documents and records all irregularities and technical problems concerning the function of the operations center.
• Assists the lead technician in monitoring maintenance activities that have the potential of interfering with the on-air product.
• Coordinates the program source with the language service of origin and notifies the language department of deviations in a timely manner.
• Receives help desk inquiries from RFE/RL staff (through phone calls or emails), records the inquiries in help desk system and ensures the appropriate department is notified to resolve the inquiry.
• Performs all tasks on a rotating shift. Will be required to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:

• Completed secondary education in technical fields, specialized training in radio/TV production techniques and practices or equivalent professional experience preferred;
• Knowledge of how to operate digital and analog radio/TV broadcast equipment, knowledge of technical operations as they pertain to control room techniques considered an advantage
• Operational experience with Microsoft Windows based computer programs.
• Ability to speak, read and write English at an intermediate/communicative level.
• Communicative Czech.
