Fifty years ago, on October 22, 1962, U.S. President John F. Kennedy announced that the Soviet Union had begun deploying nuclear missiles to Cuba. The Cuban missile crisis, which came to an end on October 28, 1962, has been called the closest the world has come to nuclear war. (AP video)
