Horse welfare advocates have raised concerns that the particular physiognomy of the horse cranium means that neither the penetrating captive bolt gun nor gunshots are reliable means of ensuring that is horse is in fact killed or stunned, and that the animal is more likely to be simply be paralyzed, and to therefore experience the full pain and awareness of being skinned and butchered alive during the final phase of the slaughter process. This video can not be justified.

horses are not kasher. deer, sheep (mutton), goat though are acceptable according to kashrut..
this is basically what "the fuss is all about".
in the bible it's clearly stated.
kasakhs, (I suppose-even if not radical and orthodox), are muslims, so they understandably do not care much about kashrut.
britain though is not dar-al-islam.

Dear anonymous, the video has nothing to do with religion, The Humane Society of the United States and hundreds of organizations round the world strongly support the ban on horse slaughter on the grounds of the above mentioned statement – hope you read it carefully.
RFE/RL is doing a disservice to Kasakhs business by this video „ an English man promoting horse meat“ It is shameful. When you hunt deer do you shot it in head? No! That is why most butchers refuse to kill a horse by the only possible way mentioned hereinbefore. I fully condemn this act of promotion of horse slaughter by rfe/rl, moreover done by a “converted” English man in the video!
If I was a Chinese asking you to promote dog meat on your website saying that „only posh people object to it, but it is delicious“ would you put my video up? (consider that dogs are also butchered alive).
I am afraid, religion is completely out of the question here. It is a question of humanity.

Kazakhs are not welcome slaughtering guns! This is forbidden! Kazakhs cut throat horse, horse blood comes out. Also mostly athletes eat horse meat, as it is quickly digested.

besides: if non-muslims in the western world, even some jews in israel, europe and the united states, people in east asia and africa eat porc, be it due to their non-religiosity or other values than islam, specific texts in the new testament, etc. they do not understand "all the fuss about" ideas like this and that is "haram" and "halal".
almost all muslims - as known - do adhere very much - to this tenet that porc is supposedly "haram" despite the fact that they ignore, do not know, reject, do not care about other tenets in islamic jurisprudence.

Cutting a horses throat means to butcher it alive.I forwarded the video how those poor horses are treated (in the frost without protection from wind and cold, tied not being able to run without access to water and hey ) to my friends from Animal welfare watch. I hope this business will soon be stopped. It is horrible and shameful and in the 21st century completely unacceptable! If that happened in the CR the breeder would be immediately fined and prohibited on breeding.

essentially, it's about rights of living creatures. as in buddhism and some other religions, humans should not kill.
actually, I didn't know that some would eat horses except war some native americans during the wars and the winters when there was nothing to eat and people died of starvation.
