Desperate Honeymoon -- Syrian Newlyweds On The Road To Europe
A month after getting married, Sayid and Amira sold all their possessions in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and set off on a perilous journey toward a new life in the European Union. RFE/RL's Ray Furlong traveled with them along the so-called “Balkan Route” taken by hundreds of thousands of desperate people from Syria and other strife-torn countries. This is the story of Europe's biggest refugee crisis since World War II, told through the eyes of one young couple.
