Russian Mars Mission Falters After Launch

Russia's first planned interplanetary mission in more than two decades suffered a malfunction shortly after its launch on November 9. An engine failed to fire on the Phobos-Grunt probe after it reached orbit. Russian space agency chief Vladimir Popovkin said engineers are remotely inspecting the craft with the hope of returning it to its course.
