The Chinese authorities have detained the brother-in-law of jailed Nobel Peace Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo.

His lawyer says Liu Hui was detained in January.

He is accused of committing fraud in a real estate deal.

Lawyer Mo Shaoping on March 29 described the evidence against him as "insufficient."

Chinese political activist Liu Xiaobo was jailed for 11 years in 2009 for "subversion."

He had circulated a manifesto, Charter 08, calling for democratic reform.

His wife, Liu Xia, has been under house arrest in Beijing since he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2010.
