A book about the crisis sparked five years ago by a Danish newspaper's publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad has been released in Denmark.
Publication of Flemming Rose's "The Tyranny of Silence" comes amid concerns about a possible backlash from the Muslim world at a time when Denmark has faced two new security alerts.
Rose was a culture editor at the "Jyllands-Posten" daily on September 30, 2005, when the paper published 12 editorial cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad.
The drawings eventually sparked outrage across the Muslim world and led to violent protests against Denmark and Danish interests. Rose himself has received numerous death threats.
It also sparked broad discussions about possible tensions between free speech and the defense of religion.
